Hey there,
Yesterday I had this realization.
For most of my adult life, I thought I was chasing the next best thing. The next town. The next opportunity. The next version of myself.
Looking back, I realize I wasn't really chasing those things.
I was chasing who I thought I was supposed to be.
I had convinced myself that if I lived somewhere people felt freer, I would become more free. If I surrounded myself with adventurous people, I'd become more adventurous. If I found the "right" place, I'd finally become the person I was looking for.
But the truth is...
that never really happened.
No matter where I went, there was always something that didn't sit right.
I'm generally a pretty happy person.
People often tell me I have a beautiful smile, and I genuinely love offering it to anyone I meet.
However, I never felt true happiness and with time I've realized that happiness and alignment aren't always the same thing.
You can feel happy and still feel that quiet nudge telling you there's something that isn't sitting right.
Everything began to change when I stopped trying to answer that feeling and started getting curious about it.
Instead of asking,
"What should I do?"
I started asking guiding questions,
"Where is my power in this situation?"
"What would I have to do to make that dream a reality?"
"Where do I need to be brave?"
Those questions didn't change my life overnight.
But they did change the direction I was walking.
And then one day, another realization arrived.
I wasn't finding myself.
I was removing the layers of all the "supposed tos."
I wasn't becoming someone new.
I was uncovering the person who had been there all along.
I actually think that's the fun of all of this.
Not finding ourselves...
but continuing to uncover ourselves.
Every single day.
Now, whenever something doesn't sit right, I try not to rush past it.
I pay attention.
Because I think those moments carry information.
Almost like little trail markers.
They're pointing us toward something.
A conversation we need to have.
A choice we've been avoiding.
A dream we've quietly set aside.
Or maybe...
a life that feels a little more like our own.
So today, I'll leave you with the same question I've been sitting with myself.
What isn't sitting right?
Not because you need to fix it today.
Just because it might have something to teach you.
I'm so glad you're here.
Until next week,
