Hey there!
Recently, I began to feel those feelings of longing again. Those feelings of wanting something more. That feeling that something wasn't sitting right.
I was feeling so far from myself, which felt especially challenging because I've done so much work to feel whole and to find my power in situations beyond my control. And yet, I felt tired. I felt anxious. I felt like I knew there was more, but I just couldn't see the path forward.
While we were living in Oaxaca, I'd been helping my husband with his business. At first, it felt natural. I was helping with client communications, ordering, finances... whatever needed to be done. And then, little by little, I found myself doing more.
Painting. Moving furniture. Hanging art. Taking on the emotional needs of clients. Trying to manage my husband's emotions and mindset while he was building his creative business.
And somewhere along the way, I became overly invested in making his dream work while neglecting my own.
Something wasn't sitting right.
This wasn't my dream.
I love my husband. I love supporting him. And I genuinely wanted to see his business succeed. But I was beginning to realize there was a difference between supporting someone else's path and losing sight of your own.
And I had lost sight of mine.
So I quit my job with my husband. (Don't worry, I do still help him when I can).
Not because I suddenly knew exactly what I was supposed to do next. Honestly, I didn't.
But I knew I needed to make space for something different.
I started writing down all the things I was willing to do to find my path.
And I mean willing to do.
Because finding my way forward wasn't going to happen just because I knew I wanted something different. I was going to have to make it happen.
I was going to have to email people. Post on social media. Send messages. Put an offering out into the world and let people know it existed.
I was going to have to be willing to be seen.
Wanting to be on the path meant being willing to walk it.
Somewhere in that process, I came to the realization that I wanted to get back to my work.
I wanted to teach again.
And I wanted to travel to the U.S. to teach a weekend-long course.
But here's the funny thing...
I'd always traveled home to visit family, and if I happened to teach while I was there, I would fit the work into the trip. I'd never really considered simply traveling for work.
It just hadn't occurred to me that I could.
And then I thought...
Why not?
What if I could live in Mexico with my family and travel wherever I needed to go to teach?
What if my work didn't have to be tied to where I lived?
What if I could build a creative business that actually supported the life I wanted to live?
And suddenly, I could see it.
I felt myself seeing a life that was possible.
The path forward was becoming so clear.
And very much mine.
So I listed the weekend intensive.
And then I did the work.
I emailed people. I shared it. I messaged people. I talked about it. I kept putting it in front of people and inviting them in.
And people started responding.
People who had been waiting for classes. People who wanted to learn. People who were excited about the offering.
And almost as soon as I started taking action, I could feel it.
I was moving again.
Not because I suddenly had the entire plan figured out.
Because I had found something that felt like mine, and I was willing to take responsibility for making it real.
I could have stayed in the numbness. In the longing. In the feeling that something wasn't right.
But I didn't.
I found the place where I still had a choice.
And then I acted on it.
That choice propelled the journey forward.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
Sometimes we think we need to know the entire path before we're willing to take the first step.
But maybe that's not how it works.
Maybe the path becomes visible because we move.
Maybe we don't need to know exactly where we're going. Maybe we need to be willing to do the next thing that feels like ours.
Even when it's uncomfortable.
Even when it requires work.
Even when we don't know yet where it's going to lead.
So I'm curious...
What is something you could do to find your path forward?
Not the whole path.
Not the five-year plan.
Just the next thing.
The thing that might help you see what's possible.
I'm so glad you're here.
Until next week,
A little something I'm opening the door to...
